Whats in Your Hand

Exodus 4

Gods Observation (37)

And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters for I know their sorrows (Ex 37)

I have seen

I have heard

I know

Gods Initiative (8)

And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey (Ex 38)

I am come downTo bring them up

Gods Commission (10)

Come now therefore, and I will send you unto Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt (Ex 310)

I will send you

Moses Response

Who am I (11)

And Moses said unto God, Who am I (Ex 311)

Gods Response

And he said, Certainly I will be with you (Ex 312)

The issue is not who are you, but who am I, I am God and I am with you.

I will be with you

and Lo, I am with you always (Matt 2820)

I will never leave thee nor forsake thee (Heb 135)

..Without me you can do nothing (Jn 155)

Who is God (13)

And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers has sent me unto you and they shall say to me, What is his name what shall I say unto them

Gods response

And God said unto Moses, I Am that I Am (Ex 314)

How do I prove I met God (41)

And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice for they will say, The Lord has not appeared unto you. And the Lord said unto him, What is that in your hand And he said, A rod (Ex 41)

What is in your hand

The rod was just a tool for helping him walk and do his job of shepherding.

It was what he would lean on when he was tired

It was his security

It was his tool to fight off predators

It was the rod of Moses

Whats in your hand

Occupation (gateway to relationships)

Skills (handyman, sew, mechanics, media)

Family (school, events, activities)

Life Circumstances divorce, abuse, addictions

And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent and Moses fled from before it. And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand (Ex 44)

The serpent invoked fear

What he used to trust or lean on became something he feared and ran from

He submitted to God and gained victory and dominion over the serpent (James 47)

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 47)

Moses rod became Gods rod to reveal Gods power

and Moses took the rod of God in his hand (Ex 420)

Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalekto morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand (Ex 179)

When we yield what is in our hands to the Lord, He uses it to reveal his power

A changed hand

And the Lord said furthermore unto him, Put now your hand into your bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. And he said, Put your hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again and he pulled it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign (Ex 47-9)

Leprosy picture of sin, unclean

How Do I prove I met God

A transformed life.

But now ye also put off all these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him (Col 38-10)

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against anyeven as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity (Col 312)

John 1335 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

If there has been no change, maybe you never really met God.

Water in your hand

that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land and the water which thou take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land (Ex 49)

Pouring out the water of the Word reveals the redeeming blood of God

Whats in your Hand

A tool yielded to the Lord

Your Changed life

The Water of the Word to reveal the redeeming blood of Christ
